Creating Shareable Content: Best Practices for Stations
With the rise of peer-to-peer content sharing platforms designed for public media station use, this session will help participants learn how to produce content that can be easily shared and used by other local stations across the country. Participants will hear from Sasha Schechter, Director of Wavelength (www.wavelengthpublicmedia.org), a content sharing platform powered by WNET and made possible by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, as well as stations who have successfully created and used high-quality shareable video content through the CPB-funded American Graduate Content Sharing Initiative. From creating content clean of graphics to providing .SCC files, participants will walk away with a checklist of easy to implement best practices that will ensure that other markets are able to easily use their content.

Learning Outcomes / Key Insights:
Participants will understand how to use the following best practices for creating and using shareable content:
-Create a strong title
-Select a visually appealing thumbnail
-Provide video that’s clean of graphics or easily localizable
-Provide .SCC files
-Provide social media assets
-Clear for broad rights/usage
-Use local open/close to set context
-Create content that is evergreen
-Create content that is not location specific or aligned with national narratives (i.e. the opioid crisis)
